We need to demand the extensive measures to prevent infection based on the best current science that this petition calls for. Without them, people should not be working on campus. Reliance on vaccination alone to prevent transmission is insufficient.

I applaud this petition and call upon the UM administration to get to work on its recommendations.

I am concerned that the range of air filtration ranges from well below the standard to slightly above. When classes resume a number of air purifiers should be installed throughout classes, particularly in older buildings.

The UM cannot say there is a vaccine mandate unless they are collecting proof of vaccine. In the event that an individual cannot be vaccinated, a letter from a medical doctor and testing 3 times a week must be required. This has now become standard practice at many businesses and academic institutions. We should not accept a lower standard of safety for our students, professors, instructors, librarians, and staff at the UM.

It is critical that we provide a safe and transparent work and learning environment for students, professors, and staff a the UM.
