Erin McKenzie Craig, Ed.D. in partnership with Oakland-based nonprofit corporation Unity Schools, seek to establish and operate Unity Middle College High School, a public charter high school serving grades 9-12 within the Orange Unified School District boundaries.

Unity Middle College High School (Unity MCHS) will use the demonstrably successful model of the Middle College National Consortium schools blended with Unity Schools’ educational philosophy as a guiding framework in the establishment of Unity MCHS. Unity MCHS will build upon the success and lessons learned from OUHS’ ten years of achievement and service to East Oakland families, with modifications made to best serve the needs of at-risk high school students in Orange County.

Mission

Unity Middle College High School prepares all students including this who are at-risk and underserved for four-year university success, leading to professional careers through a blended high school/college curriculum.

Unity Middle College High School (Unity MCHS) achieves this mission by offering project-based learning, dual enrollment and early college experiences, and differentiated support through a nurturing, family based school culture. Unity MCHS is structured on the Middle College National Consortium Design Principles with career pathways available to all students. Unity MCHS career pathways will provide students high school and college courses, internships, and hands-on experience directly aligned to each student’s career pathway of choice and post-secondary plans.
