we actually did it, the bill passed and songwriters are finally getting the protections we fought for. i am honestly blown away that we got this over the finish line. keep an eye out for how this changes things once the new rules kick in.

Songwriters and composers are the foundation of the world's music industry, and yet new digital business models that bring our work to ever-wider audiences also threaten our economic and creative future.

Therefore, the undersigned call on Congress to pass the Songwriter's Equity Act (SEA)and support other measures that protect the interests of America's music creators, enabling us to receive just compensation for the use of our music in the digital world.

Record Labels spend nothing extra as far as pressing and distribution for digital downloads and steaming services. Artists deserve a much fairer compensation for their hard work!

Our product is the music we create. It takes skill, talent, energy and intelligence to create our product and the creators deserve to be fairly compensated for our work. This is no different from creators in any other industry.

It all starts with the song – without great songs the rest of the music industry would be pointless, and soon disappear. Songwriters deserve fair pay for their work, in order to continue to create the soundtrack to our lives.

a photographer gets instant, total copywrite simply for pointing a mechanical or electronic device and pressing a button. Poets and novelists works are protected; why not musicians??

This is very important. I'm depending on my son to take care of me off of his royalties
