We the undersigned, do humbly petition the United Nations, led by Secretary General António Guterres, on behalf of the protesters and freedom fighters in Cuba for aid and support, on a humanitarian basis as they struggle to remove the government currently led by Miguel Díaz-Canel.

This petition also asks for the attention and support of Deputy-Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed, General Assembly President Volkan Bozkır, Economic and Social Council President Munir Akram, and the country currently holding the Presidency of the U.N. Security Council, France.

The country of Cuba has clearly reached a turning point in its history. The current populace is asking for change and democracy within the context of staying free and independent. The current Cuban governing body, led by Miguel Díaz-Canel, has turned towards using force to keep this movement at bay. However, the protesters and freedom fighters push on, sacrificing their lives for this cause.

Due to the oppressive laws in Cuba combined with longtime sanctions on the country. The people of Cuba are generally not equipped with any firearms, they are generally underfed, and they have been heavily affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all these factors they are undeterred.

We ask that the leadership and members of the United Nations step in with mediated aid and support. International troops, supplies, and public support could lead to a truly free, independent, and peaceful Cuba.

The United Nations has seen fit in the past to intervene with peacekeeping missions and police missions across the globe. We believe this is the type of moment you were chartered and assembled for.

Global support through mediation of the United Nations would leave a free and independent Cuba in a position to have no debt to one individual country under its new government. That is what they are fighting for, and what Cuba has fought for throughout its history.

Do not look away, do not let the deaths be in vain. Be the true global leaders we know you can be in this moment.

Thank You For Your Attention,
The Undersigned
