the molera is significant for all apple head breeds it allows the mother to pass the babies through the birth canal...the Chihuahua club of America states it in their standard...also any color...banning the merle will make you loose a lot of Chihuahua show people...if you ban it in the Chihuahua then it should be banned in every breed!

The molera is a breed trait and should never be a DQ. It acts as a safety valve in the very tiny ones and while we do not breed to obtain a molera, we certainly are not unhappy when it occurs.

I would like to add my voice in encouraging the UKC to remove the Molera as a DQ for Chihuahuas since it has been a breed trait from the very beginning and at one time a Chihuahua was consider un pure if it didn't have one

never had a problem with molera. At one time the molera was a sign that the Chihuahua was purebred
