If you have traveled United Airlines for years like I have, and have enjoyed using their "saver" mileage award program, then you will have noticed that on February 1, 2014 they DRAMATICALLY increased the amount of miles required for an award ticket. Namely, a saver award for a business class one-way fare has increased from 50,000 miles to a WHOPPING 70,000 miles!!! Remember that's each way - they have also increased their mileage on "standard" awards as well. Please sign this petition to request a return to their previous mileage award amounts. The airlines in general do whatever they want in terms of price as if there is no regulation AT ALL. This is just another example of price gouging, and why? oh, simply because they can.
