You cannot replace 50 teacher with 17. I work in creative industry and I already find new graduates in New Zealand lacking necessary skills. This move will only increase this problem and will reduce the standard of education in New Zealand

Unitec need more creative people in their team to help generate funds to support the incredibily valuable staff in the Design & Visual Arts! The proposal to cull this highly experienced and gifted teaching body, denies any students the full potential of realising their own creative abilities! Students need access to their problem solving experience, be engaged by their wealth of knowledge and practice. The staff are educators, curators, contemporaries of NZ artists & designers who have inspired countless tudents to forge their own ideas and inspirations that is unique to NZ with massive international interest and global impact! Unitec, seriously, please discuss further to find better solutions to maintain your teaching wealth and keep your mana and Aroha!

I have taught at a tertiary design institution, and this appears as nothing other than a cost cutting measure. I pity especially those who are part of the way through their studies. Anyone contemplating studying there should not touch it with a barge pole.
