I personally have a TBi and fully support this bill. People such as myself have a large fight to struggle with, and when society frowns upon it, things are so much more difficult for us.

I was a full time working mom. I worked as a physical therapist. Got a headache, diagnosed with deep benign brain tumor. Surgery left me with severe short term memory issues. I was never able to return to a job that I loved. Brain injury can happen to anyone at anytime.

My Traumatic Brain Injury was in 1972. I was in a coma for 3-4 days. Paralized on one side of my body. When I woke I knew nothing, I had no re-hab and was only 17. Put back in school to take care of myself. I have not done well, and have been very confused trying to learn all my life.

TBI and ABI require their own research and definitions. Their internal experience may be similar but their recovery and needs are different.

It's a doctor and traumatic brain injury researcher I strongly opposed to changes the traumatic brain injury reauthorization act which dilutes the definition of traumatic brain injury.
