We at SaveUnionreservoir.org want to force JM Smuckers to install a heavily landscaped berm on the North and East side of their new production plant on the South side of Union Reservoir. The visual impact of this new facility is dramatic and will affect everyone who uses Union Reservoir. JM Smuckers received close to $9 million in incentives from the City of Longmont and Weld county and we feel a portion of this should be allocated to preserve the natural beauty of Union Reservoir. I have spent my mornings sitting by the water watching the heavy machinery move and thinking about how much of our view we have already lost. We are currently preparing to present our case to the planning commission to demand they protect what remains of our horizon.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not alone in wanting to protect the view of the water I have loved for years. The tide is turning and it feels like the people who live here finally have the leverage to demand accountability.

We come to Union to escape being 'in the city', as it is a jewel of Longmont. Please don't take our views and sense of tranquility from us. Landscaping would go a long ways towards friendly neighborhood relations.
Incentives are tax payer dollars. We, the people, we the tax payers should have a voice and Smuckers should partner with the people to pay their bills
In covenant communities, we each mAke a commitment to preserve the beauty and peace. We even pay for that privilege. Where is your commitment to preserving the peace and beauty of this neighborhood? Your marketing image conveys values your company oversteps. Please help us protect the visual and aesthetic beauty of our home.
This is an embarrassment, we are suppose to be protecting our dwindling natural environments and recreational areas here in Colorado. Building a multi million dollar factory so close to a natural reservoir without any environmental sustainability influence is atrocious!!
Smuckers is smudging the beauty of Union Reservoir, a place that all residents of Longmont can enjoy in a rural landscape - so unique. I hope they build a berm and minimize their night time lighting with motion sensor lighting to decrease their effect on wildlife.
Please do the right thing by our community!
The Union Reservoir is home to animals and provides enjoyment to thousands up people. It needs to be protected and kept free from harmful chemicals and industrial waste. Efforts must be taken to preserve it.

Union Reservoir is a beautiful place and the protection of that beauty has been entrusted to this generation for future generations. Smuckers MUST take responsibility to preserve the Union Reservoir of today while reaping the financial benefits of their new production plant for many many years to come. It's not too much to ask!!!
