How many people working for the Red Cross, who right now, are sitting at home saddened because they can't provide the things their kids need, how many are sitting in a hotel away from their family and unable to afford anything more than a two dollar sandwich from the gas station next door. How many are hoping the blood drives the rest of the week will provide sandwiches or soup because all of their paycheck went to rent. So, I ask you to sign this petition not just to stand up for yourself and your own family, but to stand up for the rights of the friends you work with. If we all stand up together and make our struggles known we can change things together.

Every signature on this petition equals one more step closer to having a voice in the different aspects of our jobs. These signatures are the first step in granting us the ability and the right to have a major voice in the issues that affect our jobs. When we want better hours, pay, benefits, and set raises (to name just a few) its through the union in which we will achieve these things. To sign this petition is to standup for equal and fair treatment by a company that is publicly prided on caring for people. So I ask you, ARE WE NOT PEOPLE TOO, do we not deserve competitive pay for the work we do. Our hard work, our skills and our caring personalities is in no small part a vital resource the Red Cross capitalizes on in Kansas, but yet our pay doesn't reflect that. How many of the staff are struggling to pay bills, buy food, and raise a family, due to the lack of decent pay.

Thank you for signing the Red Kansas Staff movement for the State of Kansas American Red Cross Employees. Every signature on the petition is not a vote for a union just the acknowledgment that you as part of the Kansas American Red Cross staff want to exercise your constitutional right to cast a vote during a secret ballot election held by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which is a neutral government agency. Once a minimum of 30% of the staff sign the petition showing interest in having a union. Union Now will file the petition form with the NLRB. The NLRB will meet with the staff and Red Cross to determine an election date, time and place. On that day all staff whom wish to cast a SECRET VOTE will have the opportunity to do so. Once all votes have been cast and the election booth closes the NLRB will tally the results. If the NLRB determines the outcome of the election to be majority of votes cast in favor for the formation of a union, then the NLRB will recognized us as an official union for. Once we are recognized as a union all staff will have the option to enroll in the union and fight for the changes they want.
