The events of January 31st at Union High School show a need for improved security and communication strategies.

As a community of parents, former and current students, community members and advocates we strongly urge the Union Public Schools administration, Union Police Department leadership and other first responders to organize a community meeting to discuss security protocols and communication strategies so we can do better when faced with a potential crisis threatening the safety of our children, faculty and staff. Any appropriate outcomes of such meeting(s) will need to be shared with parents, students, and other stakeholders.
