Moving kids every 3-5 years to accomodate the whim of the developer community is ridiculous. We've already been redistricted once. Isn't that enough?

Please stop moving our children around! My daughter has already dealt with re-zoning in the past.

We built in Briarcrest to go to Cuthbertson, our kids like many are devastated that they could be moved to another school. Our family like many in our neighborhood and surrounding put a lot into Cuthbertson. Please don't move the kids.

I don't like the redistricting idea. However, I would support a redistricting if it were done correctly and was supported with a future growth plan that would work towards preventing these issues in the future. When I say "done correctly" I mean that the BOE uses a pinpoint radius mapping strategy that focuses on where the residences are in relation to the closest school regardless of what neighborhood they are in. It doesn't make sense for a child to go to a school 5 miles away when there is one .25 miles away. As for future growth, if our county and local governing bodies (as well as BOE) have not completed an adequate growth study to project future growth, I veiw that as dereliction of their duties. At this point there is not a BOE member I would vote back into office regardless of their voting record. It's obvious to me tgat what should be a position to do what is best for the children has become a political position. If they can't take care of business in a logical, planned format versus just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks; they shouldn't be in office. It is time for us to vote on competence versus popularity.

Most people buy their homes in certain areas because they have researched the schools for their children and want their children to go to those schools. Redistricting not only has a great impact on students with increased travel time and upset in their school lives, but on home property values. There has to be a better way. Builders need to bear some of the costs of adding new schools if they are allowed to build in areas where the schools are at capacity.
