It is very shocking and embarrassing to discover one's own employer engaged in such outrageous sexism. I do hope KCL acts fast before its name is publicly tarnished.

Quite amazing in 2014, never mind workshops on unconcious bias for Athena Swan, we have gender stereotyping writ large and very consciously!

This absurd stereotypical treatment of women is very damaging to both King's reputation and that of the director of facilities and estates. I am genuinely shocked that this is allowed in 2014.

Apparently the pearls are supplied by the company as part of the uniform, so they are surely fake.

Not being given the option of wearing trousers is form of discrimination and could be legally challenged. To require staff to wear jewellery to appear feminine is a form of oppression

It's tempting to joke, pearls before swine, but it isn't funny to impose sexist stereotyping in compulsory uniforms. hardly a good call for KCL as a place of equality.
