Child Support Laws Are Unfair For Men

May 22, 2016 To whom it may concern, I am a loving and dedicated Father of two beautiful, healthy, intelligent, and sensitive five-year-old girls whose mother I am no longer with. I am also the father of their older sister, who is similarly healthy and happy. She is nine. I pay child support to my first daughter's Mom, even though she earns more money than I do. She is a highly effective, intelligent, well organized woman, and although our marriage didn't work, I have a great deal of respect for her as our Daughter's Parent. The Mother of my twins by contrast is one of the most resistant, entitled and irresponsible people I have ever known. She refuses to find work, and lives off a series of benefactors she has lined up. The lives of each of my children were prayed for by me before they were conceived, and no man is more blessed than me to be a father. My children's Moms prayed right along with me. It is utterly confusing to me as to why I am being required to pay child support that I cannot afford to the Mother of my twins. They are in my home half the time, and I am willing to have them here more often, although I do support them having a relationship with their mother. In the posts I have read of people's opinions of child support laws and outcomes, it seems that whatever the expressed perspective is, the common sentiment is that the support of the children is a shared responsibility. Why am I supporting a mother who refuses to support herself and our children when they are in my home half the time? The financial burden to me is excruciatingly uncomfortable, and I simply cannot afford it. Please re-evaluate the child support laws to accommodate Fathers who are in fact highly effective, responsible, loving, and dedicated Parents. We should not be subject to the same protocols that fathers who are avoiding responsibility are. Thank you for your timely considerati

I have all the same support costs as my ex, I provide a home, food, clothes, toys, etc. I have my son 3-4 days a week, I want to be able to give him the best life I can. She has a husband to help her, I have no one. Why should I have to kill myself working so much trying to afford to support my kids myself and paying to help her support them, when she doesnt work, sits on her butt all day, receives food stamps to cover groceries and has a husband to pay bills. Her financial burden on me is not fair, especially when she is the one that cheated on me and left me. Let me support my kids at my home and live my life with out having to pay her bills too.

To whom it may concern, I am James Williams, father of two daughters who deserve better than what they have been given by their mother and the situation they have been forced into by the system. Time is running out for both them and I, as I have a pending court date for child support. At issue is the fact that I have ALWAYS supported my daughters, whether court ordered or not. This has never been in question by my daughters or anyone who knows them or me. I have them at my home several days per week, usually two full days and two partial days. Often, though, it is more. During the summer months and school vacations, they are often picked up by me from their mother’s residence the afternoon school lets out and dropped back off at their mother’s the evening before classes resume. In spite of paying child support for eight years, I also provided the things child support should have provided for my daughters, both at my own home and for them when at their mother's. Clothing, food, school supplies, birthday and Christmas presents, everything. Meanwhile, my child support dollars went, instead, to buy cell phones, video games, alcohol, tobacco and frequent visits to night clubs or bars for Mrs. Kovach. She obviously views it as my duty to support her, rather than our daughters. She has even gone so far as to nearly demand that I purchase beer for her and her live-in boyfriend on my way to drop the girls off. No mention, however, of anything Jocelynn or Kayleigh might need. Just beer for her and the boyfriend. Despite this, upon being laid off last year, I went to the Child Support Agency office in Ravenna where I was told that paying half per month would keep me above board until I could get back on my feet. This, of course, was false and the employee who told me this has denied it since. My driver's license has been suspended, further inhibiting my ability to earn income to replace that lost last year. Again, going to the Child Support Agency, I sou

I understand that both parents decide to have a child but if the child is already being taken care of financially by one parent then why should we have to pay it especially if we are struggling to get by. I don't get assistance from the government and I have 2 special need children in my care my husband pays child support for his 10 year old and it gets deducted out of his check and now I have to pay out of pocket insurance costs for the two children that are living with me. If my husband didn't have to pay child support we could afford insurance through his work. My children need me and it's not fair because I could end up in jail for not having the money to pay child support. I'm a college student and I could also get dropped out of college for back child support my youngest is two and if I work half the money would go to day care and the other half to child support how are we suppose to survive? Do what's best for the children because my husband's 10 year old is fine her mom married a marine they got money they don't need the child support to go towards their bills all the time when we need it to survive. My 6 year old is also fine her father used to pay me 400 dollars for child support and when I lost custody that 400 dollars he could keep for himself she is healthy and she is also on her dad's insurance she doesn't need the money she has everything she needs and wants. If father's can get I pods and I pads with their own paycheck why should we pay them money if our children in our own household is suffering insurance, food, and clothes my other 2 children;s father's don't pay and I'm tired of hunting them down they quit their jobs all the time once they start noticing that the child support is being deducted from their checks and then my husband taxes are still being deducted for his 10 year old who is spoiled and gets government assistance. I feel that parents shouldn't pay all it does is cost tax payers more money and are license also gets suspended if

I think you should also add to your petition that child support payments be qualified for tax exemptions as they are to be used for dependents, and currently are taxed for the payer and not the payee

Fathers have rights too. Tired of being treated like a bank account instead of a parent.

This system is broken. Judges just look at the paycheck and dont care if the dad can even afford rent. Needs to change now.
