Unfair treatment to online students
I hope this finds you well. I know many of you have already taken to holiday but the truth is that, most students are still hanging in the balance hoping their results comes with a pass so they could also take the holidays.
Mine today is not much. I should first admit my shock to learn that the SRC president is a law student yet law students mostly online students faces bad treatment by lecturers on daily basis. I would say daily basis because it has now become a habit that we are treated like we don't pay the same fees all students pays.
To get to the point, I am informed, you all fulltimers already got your Human Rights results. Online students have to fight with Dr Nakuta to get their results which he already indicated 90% failed. The 90%being referred to did not fail because they don't know, but because of the systematical purposefuness to fail them. Majorities of them entered an examination room with 40 marks on the dot. It is very bad to say the least.
My prayers.
It is the above background that, I plead with you to take the issues of online students seriously mostly with lecturers. We are getting leap services and it is affecting our performances. Results be it assignments, tests or exams are always late and sometimes we have to redo tasks because they couldn't be found. Lecturers don't even feel they are accountable in any sorts and I pray you see to it that such is addressed.
Exam results should not be selectively given, we are students contributing the same to UNAM. We have voted you all to represent us as well and so please do.
Just like you got your results, We want our results to be on our portal timely just like the full timers. Check the online failure and make it a point that the dean is aware of what transpired. We cannot be repeating modules we should be passing with distinctions but because of the selectivity being applied, we are left unprepared as a result we are failing.
This petition echoes the sentiments of so many online students and I hope you will take time to read through and make points which you will take up with the relevant offices.
Thank you.
