Desperate safety issues arise from the unfinished condition of the roads, will it take deaths to provoke a reaction and complete the job??.

John Alfred, Gozo, Malta.
I am completely in agreement with the petition as proposed, the roads are a safety issue with motorists always swerving around the raised manholes and drainage covers, buses, lorries and cars all making the same manoeuvres . One day there will be a serious accident on these roads, with motorists in all vehicles using phones to text , vehicle are often seen on the opposite side of the road causing a pedestrian safety issue, particularly for children, as they emerge from behind parked vehicles, motorists make and receive calls whilst trying to drive around the obstacles in the roads, will it take a death to force a repair/finishing of the roads to acceptable safe standards?, I hope not.

Completely agree it is a disgrace - the scheme has NOT been completed contrary to the implication that it has been completed by having had an "official opening"

Wholehearted agreement with the sentiments expressed. In addition, this road was 85% EU funded, as I understand it, and forms part of the Mgarr to Dwejra Road, which was declared finished and opened officially some months sgo. Nis the government in breach of the conditions of the UPEU grant?

As an engineer, it feels like an easy fix to address all the problems and take this from something to be ashamed of to something to be proud of.

very dangerous cars go from one side to another to avoid the covers that are some 1 and a half inch higher in level.

The road in front my house on Triq San Lawrenz has been deplorable since 2006 when we bought the house. The current condition of the road is really not much better.
