UMass Dartmouth housing has now changed their policy for the 2007-2008 academic year. They are NO LONGER ALLOWING CO-ED APARTMENTS. The reason is that with the new online room selection process, the program is not allowing co-ed selection as a possibility. It is described on the website:
http://www.umassd.edu/housing/life/faq.cfm
It is the last question listed under the category Specialty Housing.
I am VERY MUCH AGAINST this change. I have been looking forward to a co-ed apartment for two years. So I am starting a petition. Please sign this if you are against this change as well. Also, invite others to sign. Thank you.
The growth of this petition confirms that we have enough leverage to request a formal meeting with the Director of Housing. I am currently drafting a letter that outlines our specific objections to the limitations of the new online room selection system.

So frustrating. I have been planning to live with my guy friends since freshman year. This is really unfair to change it so late.

This makes zero sense. Why change a policy just because your website software cant handle it? Fix the site dont punish the students.

UMD needs to stop trying to babysit us. I already had my apartment group picked out and now we are screwed.

Ridiculous. We are adults living in apartments. Let us choose our own roommates.
