Foreign aid is a complete waste of time, resources and money. Charity begins at home. We need a lot more self compassion. No country can be helped until we help ourselves and put ourselves first.

I agree government should not play fairy and make presents to foreign countries while we have debts and need borrow money to do so. This money should be spent on NHS, social , mental care and other needs required in this country.

Despite all the billions in aid we send abroad we are still bombarded on TV to send our £2s or £5s to help people who don't have clean water, children going blind, etc. How many £2s or £5s could be used from the billions we already send overseas.

Even cutting by a quarter the 12.5 ban would pay for a 2% public sector pay rise around 3bn. Not tax rises needed.
