Dear Mr Blackman

I am most concerned at the Government's failure to censure Qatar for its continued financial support of fundamentalist Islamic terrorist organisations that threaten the security of both the Middle East but also the UK.

Qatar has been a major supporter of a number of Sunni extremist organisations including The Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and by its support of anti Assad rebels, has promoted the growth of ISIS.

Whilst Britain continues to export arms and have massive trade deals with a regime that openly supports terrorists banned by Britain, it is interesting to note that in March 2014, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain recalled their ambassadors from Doha (the capital of Qatar) in protest against Qatar's support for Islamic extremists.

As a particular example of Qatar's malign influence, its huge financial support of Hamas – it gave $400million in 2012 alone – without doubt contributed to the ability of Hamas to build the terror tunnels and rockets that were fired at Israel and led to the start of the recent Gaza-Israel conflict. The fugitive Hamas leader, Khaled Mashal, is welcomed and lives freely in Qatar.

I find it deplorable that the UK government has not followed the example of Saudi, Bahrein and UAE in censuring Qatar for its continued support of extremist terror organisations. I urge you to consider economic sanctions and in particular stopping all arms trade with this terrorist sponsoring regime.
