With due respect, I, the student of BAMDC, MBBS-Batch 10, wish to humbly bring your attention to our deep concern regarding the recent decision to increase the passing marks from 50% to 70% & attendance 90% for the current academic session.
We fully understand and respect the university’s commitment of maintaining high academic standards. However, implementing such a significant change after admissions have already been finalized is causing immense distress among students. When we enrolled, the passing criterion was clearly stated as 50%, and many of us made our academic and personal commitments accordingly. If this policy had been in place at the time of admissions, a considerable number of students might not have opted to enroll in the first place.
Raising the passing threshold so abruptly is not only a deviation from the original admission criteria but also places an undue burden on the entire batch. Many students now face an uncertain academic future, with increased stress and anxiety that may negatively impact my learning outcomes.
In light of these concerns, I earnestly request that the previous passing marks policy of 50% be reinstated for the current term. If the university deems it necessary to increase the passing criteria, I respectfully request that this change be implemented from the next academic term onwards, allowing future students to make informed decisions before admission.
I remain committed to academic excellence and growth, and I hope that my request will be met with understanding and fairness. I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to a positive resolution.

We, as students, deserve a fair chance to succeed in our medical education. The current passing percentage of 70% and attendance requirement of 90% are unfairly high and are causing undue stress and hardship for many of us. By signing this petition against UHS, we can work together to bring about a more reasonable and achievable standard. A passing percentage of 50% and attendance requirement of 85% would be a more realistic and compassionate approach, allowing us to focus on learning and growing as medical professionals.
