We are paying over $10,000 a year for a single person room that has been converted into a double. That's 50 sq feet of living space. Refer to the link for a video shot of the room for all you visual learners out there. http://hdh.ucsd.edu/housing/roomtype.asp?tour=1#virtual "Here's some math for those of y'all in a temp-double. (me included). A triple divided among 3 people gives each person an average 63.33 sq ft of living room. A temp-double divided among 2 people gives each person on average 50 sq ft of living room. However we're paying ~$800 more dollars for 13.33 less square feet of living room. And we're not even given a desk. Where is the logic in this. I mean I understand it's a special situation. Overadmitting/Overyield. I'm totally cool with a roommate. But don't you think we should at least get our money's worth?" We don't even have a desk. How will we effectively and comfortably study in an environment where we're basically crammed into? Many of us don't mind roommates, but this living condition is even smaller then a triple. Thus, I propose that instead of shoving us in these tiny singles they should do what UCI did last year and offer some apartment complexes they run agreements with as one of the solutions to this overflow of students and not enough housing and dorms on campus. I would rather take a few more minutes in the morning and be able to breathe, sleep, and study comfortably, and I'm sure many of you would too. Either open up more housing options that or at least lower the price to dorm down to a triple, if not lower.
