I feel so grateful that friends at the International Center at UCSD welcomed me and my husbund so warmly when we first arrived in the US. The community helped us to feel at home even though we didn't know anybody in the beginning and made the transition to living in the U.S. easier. We appreciate the variety of activities that volunteers offer and the friendly atmosphere. In my opinion the IC is the heart of the campus were friends come toghter and make life colorful beside the stressful workaday life.

We started working with the IC 40 years ago when we returned from our first sabbatical leave and realized how useful it would have been to have local assistance getting settled. Not only has the IC volunteer corps helped innumerable academic visitors, it provides one of the few links between the university and the community. At this time the good will of the community towards the university cannot be taken for granted and such links are extremely valuable. The administration would be well advised to reconsider this bureaucratic decision and give it the serious academic consideration that it deserves.

This is an extremely valuable institution on campus. The lives affected are innumerable and the positive effects on UCSD and its academic program are immense.

The International Center is a necessary component of this campus.

The International Center was a transformative place for me during my time at UCSD. Growing up in a small town with little diversity, when I became a volunteer at the International Center's thrift store I became a part of a small yet incredibly diverse community. This community helped foster within me a lifelong appreciation for other cultures and it was inspiring for me to help others achieve this same appreciation through study abroad scholarships. By tearing down the International Center, UCSD is tearing down this vibrant, active community--a shameful decision on the part of the university. Grow this community and UCSD will benefit for years to come.

This is a beautiful and historic structure on campus, and a gracious environment for all. Please save the International Center.

It is irresponsible to demolish the place that a lot of people use in a daily basis without a proper substitute . It is a very important part of many families of UCSD. Please postpone the demolition and make a proper plan for reinstation of IC.

This place is like a home to many people, both international and domestic. Tearing it down is ridiculous

IC is central to the Campus, its life, its history, its cultural diversity; it is the first point of hospitality for international students and scholars. IC's fate should not be decided without a campus-wide discussion.

Closing the razing the Center would be a terrible loss to all. The International Center has been an important part of my life since I came to UCSD, 1969.

Used this place a lot. The plans assume it's redundant. It's not.

Funny how the university is willing to raze meaningful spaces to the ground while willfully ignoring unsafe spaces that students, faculty, and staff unanimously want to leave (the Literature building).

The International Center is part of the history of UCSD. It has helped many generations of students and foreign visitors in the past, and has to stay to continue its mission to welcome, help, and integrate future students and visitors. I truly hope that UCSD Administration can offer an alternative building for the International Center.

It is time to bring back culture, scholarship and a sense of community to our campus.
