UCSB End Coal Campaign

What Would You Do With $234 Million? End Coal Campaign Petition Tell Your Chancellor: Stop Investments in the Filthy 15! Our universities are committed to empowering students to develop environmentally and socially sustainable solutions for the future. So why do they continue to invest in a dirty energy economy without letting us know? According to a recent report, the Regents hold an incredible $234 million in the “Filthy 15” coal mining and burning companies, and this doesn’t include our school’s foundation. Imagine the impact we could make not only on the coal industry, but on the future of our state by reinvesting these millions in renewable energy. We can make our endowments work for a clean future, not for a polluting, outdated industry. By supporting CLEAN programs in local areas, we can reduce barriers to renewable energy construction, creating jobs, and clean energy. Please stand with us to urge Chancellor Yang to commit to full divestment from the Filthy 15 coal companies, and create a socially responsible investments committee with student representation to keep our school endowment investments in check and updated!
