We would like the art facilities open and accessibly to the students past 5 o'clock, preferable to the same time as the library. Talking to other universities this seems to be the norm. A library is not sufficient to our study needs therefore this is why we need the facilities open longer. This is students wanting to work extra to the mandatory hours, surely this should be encouraged.
I have been hearing from dozens of you about how frustrating these limited studio hours are for your projects. I am currently compiling your feedback to present to the facilities department. Email your department head today and demand they match the library closing times.

The momentum behind this push for late night access is clear and administrative leadership is finally paying attention. Send a direct email to the department head today demanding they follow the library schedule for our studios.

I completely agree. And security guards hovering around 10 mins before they are due to lock up to make you uncomfortable and leave doesn't count. Also think Atrium shouldn't have a time scale. Sometimes I finish work at 1am and want to go make work but can't as the studio is shut between 12-6am. WHY?

open access means that when different years have priority we can get into the darkroom in the evenings when we want to.

I'd love to work after I finish at 3.30ish but I know that by the time I get the inks out i'll have to be packing up again

Late night opening was a normal part of years 1 and 2. To have it removed this year is a degradation of the services that were lauded previously by teaching staff as being a differentiator to other university cources.

Late night openings of the facilities would be helpful as I work from 2:30 till 6. I know this would benefit others who have jobs during the day and those with children.

we are paying fees to use these facilities that are not open to us as often as we need to get work done, when other courses still have their resources available to them, why cant we?

Late night openings would be perfect for me as i work shifts and can only really do my uni work late at night.
