To our great sadness, we learned that Prof. Kelechi Kalu, Vice Provost of International Affairs, and Dr. Shirzadegan, Director of International Students & Scholars, are leaving UCR international office for good. They have been working hard to make the UCR a better place for our international community. Although they publicly stated that their resignation is due to personal reasons, we have reasons to believe otherwise. By signing this petition, we strongly demonstrate our support for them and demand their incumbency.

I am thankful for all the support that support Professor Kalu and Dr. Shirzadegan have given us at UCR. They understand our needs and listen to our struggles as no one else has done it before at UCR. Therefore, I demand that the University administration retain them, with all the support that international scholars need and deserve.
Prof. Kelechi Kalu has always been a strong supporter of my research at UCR. He even took time out of his summer to visit our field site and spent time with us!
Dr. Shirzadegan was invaluable in my first year at UCR. His dedication to the student body is beyond question.
Dr. Kalu and Dr. Majid are great supports for international students at UCR. With them many useful activities have bee held and benefited students in various aspects.
As an international student who have had interactions with international offices in two other schools in the US, I should say that international students at UCR will suffer deeply if they loose the support of Dr. Shirzadegan and his team. Their dedication and exceptional service should be appreciated. International office is a home for us, please support our family!

If the school wants the money that international students bring in, then they need retain programs and staff to support those students.
