This history is so overlooked and it really needs to be part of the standard orientation for everyone coming to campus. We need to know who paved the way.

"Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by... and not be concerned about what happens in (our campus). Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial "outside agitator" idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds." Equality will not be a natural path it is one of conscious rememberance and action.

The UCLA People of Color Tour gave me insight to the history of student activism on campus.

As a former Bruin I heard, read, and participated in the great accomplishments of the prior ethnic groups at UCLA, and of the larger social movements. I believe current and future students should have this tour available to them as it marks critical progress to our respective, and diverse communities, as well as within the context of the larger diversity within the US.

The People of Color tour should be more available to all students here at UCLA because it provides incite to events of cultural importance that the campus has undergone. The tours given now are entertaining but completely undermine the importance of diversity to this campus.
