The motion to fire Rosa from her position after years of loyalty to the theatre - when she's simply asked for vacation - is unacceptable.

I understand the need to cut costs but this can't be the right way. This is not in line with what is presented politically on most of UCB's stages and shows and it's sad to hear that we would move away from essentially a small business owned by a woman of color in favor of a larger company.

While I appreciate that costs need to be cut, this is not the way.

This is a shockingly cold way to cut costs. I sincerely hope UCB can reevaluate this decision and the thought process that led them to fire a hard-working, tenured employee like Rosa in the first place.

This needs to be handled ASAP. Horrible thing to read and I can’t even imagine how awful this is for Rosa.

Sickened to hear this news. If the people making UCB’s corporate decisions have put themselves in a position where their financial troubles can be impacted by firing the cleaning person, then I hope The Establishment evaluates its problems at the corporate level as readily and harshly as it did in preparing to fire a low level worker.
I can’t imagine the profit gained by firing Rosa, but if it’s that significant then UCB has bigger institutional problems than the cleaning person.
I hope a resolution is on the horizon, but as a teacher and performer, I am prepared to stand in solidarity with Rosa further, if needed.

This is so shocking and upsetting and must be made right. Rosa is a strong, kind, hard-working woman who deserves her job back. We as an organization need to take a good long look at our values. This makes me sick to my stomach.

Rosa has contributed to the UCB community in an incredibly important and under appreciated way, she deserves a fair severance package that reflects that contribution.

If the UCB can keep people on who have actively denigrated marginal members of its theatre, student body, and it's community it should at the very least muster the strength to do right by its women of color custodian.

I’m a long time UCB student, performer, coach and community member and this has me SHOCKED! I can’t imagine there isn’t a perfectly good explanation of this (hopefully) misunderstanding and that UCB will make this right as quickly as possible.

The real person who should be fired is whomever decided that THIS is the person who should be let go simply for asking for a vacation. No one who acts like this should at all be in a position of power. Disgusting way to act and do business.

C’mon UCB! Do you want to seem as corporate and mercenary as like, Apple or Amazon? She is by all accounts a beloved worker.

I’ll be canceling a class I plan to take in September if UCB doesn’t do the right thing.
