The State of West Virginia are not allowing Uber Ride Sharing to be apart of West Virginia. They claim it is about discrimination if a client is gay, however they are using it as a tool, it is ok to make legal Same Sex Marriages and everyone has to abide by the law to accept them but when it comes to people who are Uber drivers who are gay and straight they want to say no because the driver may be discriminating a gay person.

What is the difference between Uber and a Cab Company?

Taxi: A company has a contract to work in a city / area from a local governmental body. You call up the company, request a taxi where & when, and they tell an active driver in their employ to go there and pickup the person(s). At the end of the ride, pay the driver directly. Driver owes some %/$ of what they've earned each day to the company they work for.

Uber: Company decides to operate in a given area (usually a city). People "volunteer" to work for Uber (they usually do so in their free time, as opposed to cab drivers where it's to be a full time gig). After being accepted by Uber, drivers will flag when they are & are not available for work. Person wanting a ride uses the Uber app to signal they need a ride, and the app matches them with a driver who is closest to them. The driver can view the profile of the passenger & vice versa, to decide if both people are fine with the combination. Driver shows up & drives the passenger. Passenger then pays Uber directly (electronically), and a portion of that is then transferred back to the driver.

The cars for Uber are newer vehicles owned by the driver who goes through criminal background checks, driving record, insurance, and registration to make sure the vehicle is in great condition. The driver gets out of the car and opens up the door for clients like a chauffeur would with a limousine. The car is cleaned inside and out and the driver is clean and groomed well. The Drivers are Teachers, Single Mom's, Straights, Gays, College Students, and more, trying to earn extra money to support themselves for extra money.

Cab drivers are usually not on time, they take long ways around to their destination, they charge a surcharge fee just for sitting down in the seat then start the meter, most cabs are mechanically disable no air conditioning, smells like mold or body odor cabby uncleaned and unprofessional sometimes rude.
