Please remain attentive as the transition begins because your …

At the meetings regarding parking for the 2017-2018 school year, the President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Dr. Robert Altenkirch, made the statement that there seemed to be little interest from students in a bus or other transit system for the UAH campus. He went on to say that once students express interest in a transportation system, the university will more seriously consider this option. This petition is here to serve as that proof of interest. If you, a student, faculty member, or alumnus who frequently parks on campus, are interested in seeing a transportation system initiated on the campus of UAH, please sign here to make your voice heard!

Educate yourself about parking zones before you sign! Look at the zoned maps at here.

At the University Convocation, the President remarked that students should feel free to send him suggestions, but to "try to make your suggestions loftier than parking". If enough students are concerned by the inefficiencies of the current parking system that he has to tell people to stop, that means it an issue that should be addressed. The needs of the student body are #LoftierThanParking

The conversation around campus transit is evolving as more people share their experiences with the current parking limitations. I am currently organizing the feedback from these signatures to present a clear picture of our needs to the administration. Your participation remains essential for demonstrating that this is a persistent priority for our community.

I have students complain about being late to classes because the buildings are so far apart, resorting to driving and not finding a parking space. Now that student parking is about to be zoned away from my building i can only imagine that this problem will worsen.

A transit system is important if we aren't going to have the option to drive around campus due to limited parking. Someone with a disability that makes it difficult for them to walk and/or bike to class would greatly benefit from the availability of a transit system.

The reason there is no interest is because we never had zoned parking. Now that zoned parking is going to be a thing, on campus buses will be needed so we can get from our parking lots to our buildings

I wouldn't care about not having a bus or other means of transportation with the zone parking if they had at least cut the decal price a bit. I went from being able to park wherever I wanted to having roughly four lots to choose from. That's ridiculous at $120 a year.

I'm all for implementing a transit system for the UAH campus. The campus is split down the middle with STEM on one side and Liberal Arts on the other. This would be extremely helpful in getting across campus when needed.

If you're going to make students pay $120 a year for parking, then we should be able to park where we choose. Also, a lot of students have night classes, how are we supposed to feel safe if we have to walk across campus to get back to our cars, especially us females?

While I do not have a specific interest in Suh a system, I believe it is very necessary, considering both the expanse of the campus and the number of in-city commuters.

It's a huge problem that is now just not working. I arrived 45 minutes ahead of class and there is no parking available. Why is money for UAH enough for tuition but not enough for a parking spot.
