Dear Reader, I am writing this letter regarding the situation that now exists at the Tyrone Guthrie centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co Monahan, Ireland. Returning from a recent visit at the centre over a duration of a week I found myself in a state of shock and disbelief. If you are familiar with the centre then you would be familiar with the warmth and hospitality of Teddy and Doreen Burns. In January Doreen was made redundant and the following February Teddy Burns was fired on accusations of theft and gross misconduct following a disciplinary committee hearing on the 19th of February. Both Teddy and Doreen have been barred from ever stepping onto the grounds of the Tyrone Guthrie Centre again. I have spoken to numerous people who are familiar with the centre and the consensus is absolute. People want to know how the situation that now exists at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annamakerrigh has come to place. I feel that the recent treatment of Teddy and Doreen Burns after a lifetimes dedication to the Tyrone Guthrie Centre is a shameful disgrace. The artists whom have had the pleasure of their company and the centre have a direct responsibility and ownership to seek clarification and justice on these matters. For these reasons it is imperative that this email be forwarded to as many people as possible whom have had firsthand experience of the centre. I have established an online petition the aims of which are twofold 1. To show friendship and support To Teddy and Doreen Burns at this time. 2. To seek an external investigation into the recent occurrences at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, Newbliss, Co Monahan. Ireland Next week a community meeting will be held in Newbliss regarding this matter, Representatives of the local Parishes, schools and political parties will be in attendance. The same petition will be circulated at the meeting and afterwards will be circulated door to door in Newbliss and the adjoining communities. Copies of both the online and the handwritten petitions will be sent to the Minister of Culture, Sports and tourism in the Republic of Ireland and to The Department of Culture arts and leisure in Northern Ireland. I would be very grateful if you could forward this on to anyone you know that may have been at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in the past. Many Thanks, Kenneth Lambert
