Hello, Fellow TWS Actives!

This is not another survey about modifying the PSCC.  It is a formal petition which our By-laws recognize as a way for you to cause a referendum vote of all Actives of a By-Law Amendment that will accomplish the changes to the PSCC committee that you have said you want.

Once passed by the Actives, the By-Law Amendment will go into effect without further discussion or intervention.  So, your signature counts.  Use it to tell the BOG you are calling for a By-Law Amendment vote on Friday, August 24 with results reported the following Monday.

You can read the actual language of the amendment by Clicking the correct link on the right.

Or read the summary below then click on the link on the right to add your electronic signature to the list.

Here is what the Amendment will accomplish:                                                                    The Play Selection and Casting Committee will be converted into 2 committees and expanded by 3 people per committee, with each committee advising the AD who will have the decision-making authority under a stronger system of checks and balances.  Each committee will select a chairperson whose responsiblity it will be to report to BOG meetings and to work with the other chairperson to help the AD in coordinating artistic and logistical choice that intersect both committees.

Members will be recommended by the AD for 3 year terms (separated by 2 year hiatus periods for members that wish to return) and appointed by the BOG which also has the discretion to replace them. There will be 5 to 9 members per committee who may serve on no more than one committee at a time.  Play Selection Committee members may be cast.  Members of the committees may appeal to the BOG by a unanimous vote for an alternative to the AD's play or casting selection.  As an employee of TWS, the AD serves at the pleasure of the BOG which means the BOG can terminate his contract if his decisions do not accomplish good results.

Why do we need the Amendment?  It will:

  • Improve and streamline creative decision-making at TWS by giving the AD greater flexibility and accountability in both play selection and casting.
  • Increase the variety and quality of our productions; thereby attracting a larger, wider audience and building ticket revenues.
  • Expand the number of actors cast by dedicating resources to casting and giving AD decision-making authority thereby giving more Actives an opportunity to be onstage and to develop better acting skills.
  • Enhance accountability to the Actives and their elected representatives of the Play Selection and Casting functions.
  • Provide greater opportunity for more Actives to directly participate in both the play selection and casting processes.
