It would have to be available with manual transmission as well for me to order, but a diesel 2 door with any transmission would be sick!

I have never owned Wrangler but have always wanted one and so I thought the time had arrived for me to be a Jeep Wrangler owner when I learned a diesel engine was an option for the new JL Wrangler. My hopes were crushed when I first learned that only the 4dr JLU would be receiving the diesel engine. I currently own a truck with a diesel engine and unless life's circumstances go beyond my control I will never go back to a gas fueled truck. As a somewhat hopeful future new Jeep Wrangler owner I can only see myself settling for the "Iconic" 2dr Wrangler with an oil burner. Do I need Jeep Wrangler? No. Do I want a Jeep Wrangler? YES. FCA, please consider adding the EcoDiesel engine to the 2dr Jeep JL.

Personally, I feel this is a ploy by fiat. They're riding the high horse, saying that they listened to the real jeepers out there when designing the JL.
Going with that marketing angle, they're just going to come out one day and say they've thought it through and decided NOT to restrict the diesel to the four door due to outcry from the fans. Truth being, that was the plan all along and just scored easy points with said fans by doing absolutely nothing. OR they really are just going to leave the two door behind on a feature that finally came to be from years of pleading by (mostly) two door buyers.
You're either really smart or really stupid fiat... only time will tell...
