This petition has been created to gather signatures to close the north end of NW 15th Ave right before the industrial area and the south end of NW 10th Ave at the corner of NW 45th St before the rehab apartments. See attached map for further details.

The traffic in this neighborhood has gotten intolerable. There is a high-volume number of commercial trucks and auto traffic that uses NW 15th Ave as a thruway to Commercial Blvd, as well using NW 10th Ave as a thruway. The number of vehicles exceeds thousands daily. The speed of the traffic also poses a safety hazard. The traffic creates congestion, excessive noise, and people tossing trash on our streets. Please do not assume if you are not directly impacted by this traffic, that it does not result in a decline in the overall value of the neighborhood. In addition, the proposed 646 single family homes and townhomes at the old Oak Tree golf course on the corner of Prospect Road and NW 21st Ave (http://www.builderonline.com/land/development/pult...), will increase the traffic exponentially. These street closures would help to bring back some semblance of peace, quiet, and safety to our neighborhood. This neighborhood has been labeled as “the best kept secret in Fort Lauderdale.” Let’s keep it that way.
