Home to approximately 2000 people, Tuross head is well known for it's views, community and beaches. However, those amazing views are now at risk due to the the sale of community land. Lot 2/55 is for sale, and whilst the majority of the Tuross community are unhappy with this, the Eurobodalla Shire Council refuses to listen. The sale of lot 2/55 for residential development has far more cons than pros, especially for those who live around it. Sale of the lot, which has been used as a community space for over a decade would result in the following events:

- Decrease in safety when turning from Beach Street to Tuross Boulevard whilst driving, and increased difficulty in crossing the road safely.

- The loss of old Norfolk Pines

- The devaluation of neighbouring properties due to the loss of view.

In addition to these events, neighbouring properties were sold under the promise that this reserve would never be built on. There is no shortage of land in Tuross. In fact, currently there are over 50 properties for sale in Tuross, of which approximately 15 are undeveloped land. Finally, the people most affected by this sale are community minded people who have tended to the block for over a decade at zero cost to the Eurobodalla Shire Council.

The Eurobodalla Shire Council is refusing to listen to the community, so we're making it clear to them that this sale and development of land is against the communities wishes.

This is just greed plain and simple. We look after this space for years and the council just wants to pave over it for a quick buck. Leave our trees alone!

I disagree with the sale of this block of land. It is an encroachment on the neighboring properties. Many of these residents have taken the time to maintain this area as public open space for the benefit of all. It is adjacent to the ANZAC Memorial site in Tuross where many gather to commemorate the day when Australia announced itself as a young vibrant and brave new nation to the world. This block should be preserved for future generations.. not sold for the short term gain and (lack of) vision of some local government employee who wants to leave an indelible mark on this peaceful environment. Once it's gone you can't get it back!
