My family lives off 325 W. Turning out onto HWY 20 has always been a HUGE problem. It's time we stand together and do something about the traffic flow . Numerous accidents happen along this stretch of highway every year. It should not take numerous injuries and deaths before change occurs. I have a new young driver and I'm scared every time he crosses into traffic from our intersection at 325 W and Hwy 20. My other son attends Renaissance Academy which is a school along HWY 20. We often get him to school late so we don't have to deal with turning out into heavy traffic. Often, we wait more then 10 minutes before traffic is clear in both directions before we turn out onto the hwy. Heading west (into Michigan City), is equally difficult. People driving in the Oncoming traffic do not move out of the passing Lane when they see vehicles at crossroads waiting for their turn to merge. Not only is truck/semi traffic to blame, I have seen numerous school busses disregard the school zone speed limits as well as regular cars and trucks. Before more lives are destroyed, the traffic on Hwy 20 needs to be addressed.

I strongly support the implementation and follow-through of a turning lane on US Highway 20 in front of Renaissance Academy, LaPorte, Indiana. The wake-up call has happened, so lets take care of our children!

The school is growing every year. They cannot expect us to wait two more years for work to be done. Its sad that if a child lost a life, they would move sooner. I have almost been hit twice. You should not be scared to take your child to school everyday.

I have nearly been rear ended twice by a semi. Would this be allowed in front of any other school?? Totally unacceptable!

I have been discussing this problem with INDOT online for some time online. It is now time to take it to elected officials and demand for a safer highway. The volume and type of traffic on US 20 demand improvement asap.

I have to make that turn every day to go home. It is so very sad that lives are lost and accidents occur to often to count. Due to no turning lane!!! Please let us save lives!

I turn on 400W everyday to get home. I have seen many accidents at that spot. Many where friends. INDOT should have had a turning lane there years ago. I was told that the reason they have not installed a turning lane yet is because "there has not been a suitable amount of fatalitys at that location". Every life matters!

I work her and turning into the school is very dangerous. I put my turn signal in almost a a half a mile ahead of time and slow down alot . People honk and get made but at least I don't take the risk of being hit. People need to slow down it's a school.

Grew up having to turn on 400 to get to my house. I don't know how many times looking in my rear view and having to gas it because someone wouldn't have slowed down in time and having to take 300 or go way down and turn around to the opposite lane to turn on my road more safe. A lane is needed for turning! Lots of traffic with 3 schools within the surrounding area!

There should be turning lanes to help ensure that we can decrease the accidents that accur there. Specially since a school is close by.
