It all started with Benjamin Franklin pointing out how the bald eagle is a coward, and how we need something else to representing our country as the national bird. The turkey has excellent vision, representative of America, and never backs down from it's territory. Change our bird to something more representative of our nation.

Ben Franklin was right about this one. Eagles are basically glorified seagulls anyway. TURKEY ALL THE WAY
