The Columbia Gas North Columbus High Pressure project has caused significant damage to the roads, curbs, tree lawns, trees, sidewalks, and personal property of Tulane Road residents. By the time of its completion, residents will have endured a year of disruption and inconvenience, and experienced millions of dollars worth of damage to city infrastructure and personal property. Some of the damage, such as to 100 year old sandstone curbs and decades old trees cannot be repaired or replaced. This impacts our quality of life and changes our community in dramatic ways.

In light of this impact, we request that Columbia Gas and its contracted partners complete a full restoration of the street, curbs, tree lawns, trees, sidewalks, and personal property. The permitted requirement for the bare minimum of restoration is insufficient and would leave our street with a hodgepodge of curbs, inconsistent sidewalks, and only partial replacement of the road. This is not in line with the aesthetic and standard of our community and would leave our street in a worse condition than before the project started.

We are requesting resurfacing of the entire road, all new curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street, restored tree lawns, and new trees where larger and older trees cannot be saved.

Please consider these signatures from residents, neighbors, and frequent pedestrians of Tulane Road.

The momentum on this petition shows how many people recognize that our community deserves better than a cheap patch job. Now is the time to turn this energy into action so call your city council representative today and demand a meeting about our infrastructure.

The clean up is horrific. Concrete is not level, has peaks and goes over the curb in places. The soil level in the tree line is equally as bad.

We have two broken sidewalk squares, missing stone curbs, plantings on the tree lawn crushed under steel plates.

Please restore the roads, curbs, sidewalks, and trees on both sides of the street. While the project was necessary, it has been a disruption to to neighborhood and if not properly restored, will decrease the value of our homes and be left unusable for our families.

As a neighborhood walker, I’ve witnessed this disruption, but wasn’t aware of the extent of damage. Please restore trees lost with their equivalents, fix all damage completely including residential property, walkable sidewalks and safe roads. We neighbors will expect the company to do the right thing.

After being forced to live many months in a construction zone, we deserve to have our neighborhood restored properly. Even in portions of the roads & sidewalks that did not have direct digging, heavy machinery and work vehicles have totally massacred them.

This project continues to be disruptive and demoralizing in so many ways. I remain heartbroken at the damage to our trees and sidewalks -- and angered by Columbia Gas's cavalier treatment of residents throughout this unending process. I can't endorse this petition enthusiastically enough -- my sincere thanks to those who drafted it.

The shaking of our home is concerning.......among many other disturbing problems. Candles have fallen off shelves, the sound of metal plates clanging through the day and night traumatic for my wife and dog. The lack of access to our home has not only caused my wife to be late to work due to blocking driveway, but also the hours spent trying to function in my small business with the extreme lack of accessibility to our home. Many things damaged. The lack of professionalism is through the roof. City standards are low, but the shame lies on the shoulders that would fallow these standards.

It seems only right for Columbia Gas to make this neighborhood whole.
