I am writing to you today to humbly request your support and vote for me, Tuktom Albdair, as the next Vice President for the Executive SBA. As a dedicated member of our law school community and someone deeply committed to fostering inclusivity, representation, and progress, I believe I am the ideal candidate to serve in this esteemed position.

I stand before you not only as a dedicated law student but also as a proud mother, a role that has instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility, efficiency, and unwavering dedication to achieving goals.

Allow me to highlight why I am the best choice for SBA Vice President:

As a mother, I have mastered the art of multitasking, organization, and getting things done in the most effective way possible. Juggling the demands of parenthood while pursuing a legal education has taught me invaluable skills that directly translate into effective leadership. I firmly believe that my experience as a mother equips me with a unique perspective and skill set that will serve our student body exceptionally well.

I currently hold the position of President of the Muslim Law Student Association, where I have demonstrated strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting and uplifting my peers. Through my role in this association, I have facilitated numerous initiatives aimed at creating a supportive environment for Muslim students and promoting cultural understanding within our law school community.

As President of the Muslim Law Student Association, I have organized three highly successful events this year alone; a Muslims in the Law panel discussion in November 2023, the Women in the Law networking event this past February, and our upcoming Iftar Dinner. These events were aimed to provide valuable networking opportunities for students, allowing them to connect with esteemed judges and attorneys in our community. By facilitating these connections, I have helped students expand their professional networks and gain valuable insights into the legal profession.

In addition to my role as President of the Muslim Law Student Association, I also serve as Vice President of Parents in Law. Myself, along with my board, actively pushed for a room exclusively for parents and their child. The Parents Nook on the 3rd floor has been used by current and incoming parents. Through these positions, I have worked tirelessly to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within our law school. I believe that fostering a sense of belonging and representation for all students is crucial to creating a vibrant and inclusive academic environment.

Furthermore, it comes as no surprise that I am deeply involved and active within our university community, particularly in supporting current and incoming law students. My commitment to fostering inclusivity, representation, and success within our academic environment is unwavering.

If elected as SBA Vice President, I will work tirelessly to advocate for the needs and interests of all students. I am committed to amplifying student voices, addressing concerns, and implementing initiatives that enhance the overall student experience. I believe in fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.

In conclusion, as a student of the University of Detroit Mercy since 2017, I am deeply passionate about serving our law school community and am committed to making a positive impact as SBA Vice President. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote in the upcoming election. Together, we can work towards building a more inclusive, equitable, and vibrant law school community.

Thank you for your consideration
