SIGNIFICANT RISE INCREASE IN UP POST-DOCTORAL ACCOMODATION

It is unfortunate that we have to be in this kind of hard position. We at the Hippokrates residence had our accommodation fee increased from R3,000 to R4, 000 (33.33%) in 2014 and now to R5,680 in 2015 (42%) summing up to 89.33% over the 2013 fee. It is worth of note that the undergraduates and the medical students staying in the same accommodation with us are currently paying R55,000 per annum amounting to R4,583 per month while we enjoy the same facility in the same envirnment. Knowing fully well that our monthly bursary is fixed and I also need to travel on daily basis from Hippokrates to Weskoppies hospital (my department of a day to day basis), I am left with nothing for my upkeep. This has impacted negatively on my quality of welbeing. It is absolutely an attempt to suffer me. I look forward to the reversal of the increase. Thanks. Caleb Ademola Gbiri.
