they finally agreed to put jazzco in the budget and keep our costumes exactly where they belong. i cant thank you enough for sticking with me while we fought for this space. now its time to get back to dancing.

Final supporters
Tuckahoe JazzCo is a successful dance program open to all Tuckahoe High School students. The program has been in existence for 15 years despite many roadblocks due to the fact that it is not "part of the school". The most recent problem deals with the storage of thousands of dollars worth of JazzCo costumes. They have been kept in a closet on the second floor of the high school for the past 10 years. Suddenly, this space is needed for "district storage". In order for the JazzCo program to function properly, these costumes must be conveniently located. JazzCo services between 50 and 60 students every year. It is not only a Performance Arts program, but an educational one as well. Students learn different types of dance and the cultures and costumes that are appropriate for each style of dance. Several Senior students choreograph their own dances as well as teach underclassmen dances that have already been choreographed. Tuckahoe JazzCo supports Michele Obama's "Let's Move" campaign, providing exercise to students during the winter months, when they are less active. JazzCo's 2015-2016 budget is completely covered by donations, performance receipts and the BOCES Arts in Education rebate program. It would cost the district and the taxpayers nothing. Please add Tuckahoe JazzCo to this year's budget immediately. Thank you.

Thank you all for pointing out what I neglected to say in the actual petition- that JazzCo promotes confidence, respect, self-esteem, teamwork, responsibility and leadership. The program's mission is to provide a dance program at Tuckahoe High School that is all-inclusive- regardless of gender, race, religion, size, dance talent or financial status.
Programs such as these keep our children busy which gives them less time to make a poor choice. It also is beneficial for their health with all the movement and exersize. It builds community and I support this program.
Jazz co not only teaches dance it promotes self esteem , leadership, responsibility but most of children of all races religions and backgrounds come together as a family...lifelong friendships and memories are made.. PLEASE SUPPORT JAZZ CO
I thought Jazzco was taken over by the PTA last year. It's under the list of what the PTA did last year, but not on the list of committees for this year. My daughter, a 2013 Graduate was a part of that program all of her four years. It is one of the best programs offered teaching much more than just dance. I'm happily signing this petition.
Hi, Yolanda. JazzCo will not be taken away. This petition is for getting it into the official school budget. It does not need to be in the budget for financial reasons. It needs to be in the budget in order to get full cooperation and support from the district.
JazzCo is GREAT!!

Our children need to interact in as many venues as possible to broaden their social interaction. MORE after school activities are needed, not less. JazzCo is part of .the community which is part of school
