TSHA to Assess the Job Performance of Dr. Walter Buenger.

The lack of scholarly work alone is the strongest reason for his termination. His disdain for Texas is another reason. What a waste of money and an embarrassment for UT.

Would Dr. Walter Buenger also insist that we forget the story of the birth of Christ? What other well documented events that make up our history does he wish us to "forget"? How about we Texans forget any tenure status he has achieved and at the very least demand he be vetted for continuance of his contract. "Lest we forget" indeed!

Texas deserves better than a state historian that hates her history.

My third great grandfather, third great uncle died in the Alamo. I am seventh generation Texan and thank these Patriots for the life I lead today.

I attended undergrad at TCU and did Med School at UTMB. I live in Texas, in Los Fresnos, have practiced in Texas. The Alamo is a proud part of our heritage. Texans are SO much better off being a part of the USA, and the road to that began at the Alamo. Santa Anna was a vindictive tyrant and a moral coward whose word was worthless. Fire this underachieving poltroon, and put another man in his place. I know a history instructor at Tarrant JC who is also a Harvard JD, Joseph Rzeppa. He would make an excellent choice, work hard, advocate well, and research and publish exquisitely well. The Alamo is sacred, and it should be defended by a superb advocate AND Historian. I have no financial interest in that referral. But, if one is going to complain, one should always present a solution. Look him up. He will represent Texas, and the Alamo, very well.

Certainly not worth a salary. Maybe at UT, but not in this instance. Fire him.

As a member of a county historical commission, I believe Dr. Walter Buenger, does NOT represent Texas history accurately and appropriately; time for him to go; God Bless Texas!

How can this man be the chief historian when he clearly hates Texas history? Fire him!

Since Mr.Buengers Main Focus is White Supremacy. He cannot represent All of the People of Texas. His Discriminatory Views on the Contributions of Caucasians Makes him a Racist.

Time; past for a review. Leave the Alamo in our state history while you’re at it.

As a degreed history enthusiast, it is very distressing that we have a devisive political activist pretending to be a historian serving in this important post. Certainly we can find a qualified historian that loves his state and its history to fill this important position without adding to the destructive politicisation of the study of history. This role should serve to unite Texans in their shared history, not divide and attempt to shame them.

I am appalled to learn the top executive of TSHA is supporting and promoting “woke” agenda. “Forget the Alamo”….sacrilege! I am chair of our county historical commission and a 7th generation Texan. Many of my ancestors fought for this wonderful state and I will work to keep our wonderful history!

I agree completely and adamantly with this petition. Please act promptly and decisively on this matter.
