Greetings Gammas,

We write to you tonight to appeal to you all, our siblings. The purpose of Sigma Lambda Gamma is primarily one of promoting morality, ethics, and education. Siblings, our sisterhood is in crisis. The current National Board of Directors (Current NBOD: Dr. Jakia Marie, Melissa Morin, Audrey Lopez, Itzel Jihan, hereto after referred to as “NBOD”) promised us many, many things:

• NBOD promised us transparency - We have been lied to, gaslit, and ignored
• NBOD promised us order - NBOD claimed our finances were in disarray when our stated-filed 990s painted a different picture
• NBOD stated they were a governing board - And yet NBOD has continued to meddle in operations, force themselves on our Headquarters (HQ) staff, micromanage HQ, then when HQ fumbled or couldn’t inform membership they were being interfered with, pointed the finger at HQ for the failures instead of themselves
• NBOD promised us a more stable SLG - And then de-stabilized our entire organization through their disregard of data-informed decision making and emotionally rash decisions

They slashed our ability to connect. To dissent. To challenge their views. They claim they invite discourse but when people reach out individually we are discounted and often seen as outliers and not worth listening to.

We know speaking out is scary and we ask you to stand with us anyway.

If you see what we see, if you feel how we feel, we ask you to stand with us and help us remind NBOD: WE are the owners of this organization, YOU ALL, are out of line. WE are the members with legal standing. YOU are fiduciaries bound by law. This is not a request—it is a statutory demand.

We, the signers of this petition, demand that the NBOD pause all duties and responsibilities of their roles until a Town Hall (moderated by a neutral party) is called to discuss the State of the Sorority and their role in destabilizing the organization.
