Truro Needs a New Town Manager | Select Board must notify on non-renewal by 6/30
This petition asks the Truro Select Board to notify the Town Manager by June 30, 2023 of their decision not to renew his contract after 2023 and to begin the search for a new Town Manager better suited to Truro. My signature indicates I join with many others who support this position.
Why this matters:
Truro is at a critical crossroads. We either become increasingly suburbanized in 5-10 years or we remain rural. We either become more centrally controlled and diminished in our community decisions or we return to real participatory democracy in Truro. The future of Truro as a rural community is truly at stake. The aggressive, over-bearing and expensive push towards a suburbanized Truro in look and in governance is driven in large measure by the Town Manager, who does what he wants, not what the majority of the community wants. He acts in ways that are not aligned with Truro’s community values, culture or vision.
The Town Manager’s contract is up at the end of 2023 but the Select Board is required to give non-renewal notice by June 30, 2023. We need four Select Board members to agree to take action not to renew or the TM’s contract auto-renews if he is not given formal notification of non-renewal by June 30.
We have only a few weeks to persuade the Select Board not to renew the Town Manager’s contract. Please sign this petition in the box on the top right to show widespread support. Thank you.

I agree that Truro needs a new Town Manager who is more familiar with our New England traditions and respects our wishes to remain rural. Also understands that a large number of citizens are seniors on fixed income who may want to support spending initiatives but are not able to.
Town Manager left seniors with no support during pandemic--shameful, while creating an expensive position of "communications director" without any input from us or process. We need a Town Manager that understands and respects Truro's history and character and people and works collaboratively.
New Fee for every little service, tax unfairness Closed townhall Mondays,265 tenant development proposal for Walsh are all not in the interest of town taxpayers & small town ethos of Truro.
Truro is getting very shabby. Grass along the roads not being mowed. Roads not being sweep and various beach fences are not being maintained. Many town have left. This all starts at the top. It’s time for a change.
As a Truro homeowner of 27 years, I would be greatly distressed if the leadership off our town failed to preserve its unique beauty and quality of life. If that means new leadership then so be it.
Truro depends on its rural beauty. Let’s keep it simple
DO NOT not “fix” something that already works well. To do so is not only a huge waste of taxpayers’ money but also damaging - actually raping - an already fragile, endangered ecosystem. There is something nefarious about the motivation to do this. What is that motivation? Fire the town manager who is pushing this, replace that person, and deal with the motivation later.

True leadership is built on a foundation of careful listening, respect and a sufficient generosity of spirit to empower those one leads. This is what builds a strong community. Sadly, the current TM has not exhibited leadership and should not be offered reappointment.
