I am concerned about my child making it safely to class, I pay a lot of tuition for you to ensure the well-being of my son.

Students' safety should be at the forefront of administration's minds. Sadly it is not.

The second I stepped out of Ryle Hall today I fell. And had to walk on slick grass and almost fell again, and don't even get me started on the attempt to climb the icy stairs.

If the sidewalks can’t be cleared of ice the university should at least call off morning classes

Snow days are not an excuse to have off scull, but a way to ensure the safety of their students and staff. This needs to be remembered anything's the weather is bad.

In especially icy situations, it becomes dangerous to walk to class even from a dorm and far more so for commuters to drive and then walk onto campus and to class from an iced-over parking lot. I'm not asking for a quota, for classes to be cancelled entirely if they needn't be, but I'm asking for a compromise. Students should not be going to class in dangerous conditions. I'm signing this petition because I care about safety.

Truman State University claims to care about the well being of students. However, their refusal to cancel classes today proves that the university will always place academia above anything else, even if it means blatantly disregarding student safety.

The university should express more concern with the health and well being of their students.

Leaving the safety of students and staff up to the discretion of educators and supervisors is inappropriate. As a University, you have chosen to invest in your students, and consequently should insure that all your students are safe, and do not have to risk injury because a professor may choose not to cancel class. I understand that Truman has rigorous and at times, unforgiving curriculum, but there can be alternatives to not physically attending class without penalizing students due to a professor’s attendance policy. Please mandate basic safety policies for students, faculty, and staff at Truman State University.

It’s complete blasphemy that we’re having classes in this type of weather and it’s unfair for people who have to commute. The e-mail that was sent out states to not go to class if you feel unsafe, but we all know the stakes of missing class at Truman and being significantly behind because of it.
