Sentinel-5P/TROPOMI has been an extremely successful mission and the importance of its data will increase substantially as the high-quality, continuous time series extends.

Sentinel-5P is not simply a precursor (I never liked that label) but a critical and extremely successful science mission. Sentinel-5 still has to stand the test to be equally good.

TROPOMI is probably the most successful air quality atmospheric composition mission to date and it keeps outdoing S5 in many aspects. It is essential to keep it in space to ensure continuity in excellence at a local time not covered by S5.

S5P TROPOMI provides critical afternoon measurements that are needed to map air pollution exposure and track wildfire impacts,

Given the loss of MethaneSat, we can't afford to stop measurements on good, sound, instrumentation that has many good years of service left.

As former PI of S5p/ TROPOMI , this satellite instrument is a game changer. We can’t let it go.

TROPOMI is an irreplaceable backbone for the cross-comparison of the three instruments of the Geo-Ring for Air Quality

S5 is not a replacement for S5P. Observations are complementary, at different times. And even if they were at the same time, a long-enough overlap time is necessary to demonstrate data continuity, otherwise the whole idea of long-term data is lost!

Sentinel 5 is not a replacement for Sentinel 5p. The different flyover times mean the datasets will augment each other, but they are not redundant.

As former ESA staff member and co-worker of the first 2 environmental satellites ERS-1 & 2, I fully support this.

Sentinel-5 is NOT a replacement of Seintel-5p, it is an addition hat helps us understand diurnal cycle of emissions and air quality. NOx-photochemistry has a strong diurnal cycle, with the bet plume-detectibility in the early afternoon, the overpass time of TROPOMI/Sentinel-5P

TROPOMI has transformed atmospheric composition research by providing an unprecedented long-term, global record of air pollutants, greenhouse gases, and aerosol-related products. As a scientist who relies on these observations, I strongly support continued operation of TROPOMI. Maintaining overlap with Sentinel-5 is essential for data continuity, cross-calibration, and preserving the long-term records needed to detect environmental change and evaluate air quality and climate policies.

Rewrite TROPOMI S5p has always been very useful not only for my science but to my friends and community people when I want to talk them about air quality and show some pollution mapping with satellite data. Also with TROPOMI noon time orbits and great radiance S/N ratio I believe it has the best potential of being truth to many other sucssesive missions

TROPOMI on Sentinel 5p has revolutionized global air quality management. Continuing a global data record in the early afternoon should be deemed nothing less than critical.

Noon time high resolution Sentinel -5p data is used to compared with other instruments like OMI, AIRS, IASI, GEMS, etc. It exprored hidden super green house gases emmiters. Discontinuing S5P will be a huge loss to scientific community.

Essential measurements- overlap is required.

It would be an enormous loss the switch off TROPOMI and the excellent data stream used for so may societal and scientific applications. This should not happen, there is no viable alternative at present

As other instruments come online, the overlap is critical through commissioning and until reasonable end of life. This coincidence is rarely possible and should be taken advance to the fullest. Rebuilds and launches and so much more expensive. Twice a day revisit will have a significant impact of every area of science and weather TROPOMI supports.
