If the Government want to set back the recycling industry by 30 years and see stockpiles of waste in every corner of the country then they should carry on. Or they could just punish the people who exploited the loopholes and make them pay back their ill gotten gains.

£72 per tonne is an unworkable increase, recycling stations will have no alternative but to increase their running costs to the customer who just wont pay it !! BIG PROBLEMS....

This will put companies out of business and people out of jobs and another government department will shell out on unemployment benifits. so as I see it the HMRC stand to gain and the Dept of Employment stand to loose. Throw in the loss of business rates and taxation from the company and it starts to look pretty grim for government as well. The HMRC need to STOP and re-think about the consequences of thier actions.
