I have TN. It is very real and very horrible. Anything that might lead to better understanding of the condition or more effective means of coping with it would be amazing.

My niece suffered from this disease for 10 years before finally having brain surgery a little over a month ago. We saw first hand what this disease does to someone and just how horrible it is. Please recognize this disease and get the word out there.

I am not a sufferer, but I watch my wife suffer every day and night with this and it frustrates me knowing there's nothing I can do to help except to be there for her and support her.

Signing for myself! I was dx with this horrible disease in Oct 2006! The pain is worse than anything I've experienced. After years of pain, thousands of handfuls of pills and multiple side effects from the medication, mental health issues because of the Trigeminal Neuralgia, wanting to kill myself and abandon my family because of the daily pain with no relief, hundreds of trips to multiple Doctors & emergency rooms, including Mayo Clinic, I was finally financially stable enough to have an MVD brain surgery by Dr Mark Linskey, at UC Irvine (I'm from Iowa). I am so thankful for Dr Linskey & his team and more than that, I'm happy to report so far the surgery has "helped" the TN pain. However, it's left me with right sided facial numbness, jaw, cheek, lips, and tongue. I'm only 6 weeks post op. We know this surgery isn't a "cure". Only a band aid until when it comes back. This disease has ruined 10 years of my life, my 30's, supposedly the best years! I've missed so many of my kids' activities, hundreds of days of work, and my marriage is not good anymore, because of Trigeminal Neuralgia! All the negative things in my life have been because of Trigeminal Neuralgia. I cannot understand WHY this disease, and diseases like it are not "recognized" by the WHO! My prayer is that for all the people working for the WHO, the decision makers who decide which diseases to "recognize" and those diseases that get tossed to the side, my prayer is that you nor anyone in your life is stricken by this disease! And may God Bless you as you make determinations regarding Trigeminal Neuralgia and recognizing it as a disease/disorder/whatever. Hundreds of thousands of people are suffering all over the world every second of every day, and so are their loved ones. Please help us!

TN takes! It took my job, my health, friendships, memories of doing things with my grandchildren, and many other things. I go from normal to screaming in a matter of seconds with no warning!
