Trigeminal Neuralgia is still under studied & underestimated in the world of pain inducing disorders. However, I have just read a wonderful article in WebMD June 2016 about VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation). The article lists lots of successful uses for the treatment including Migraines & Tinnitus which come with my TN, but also as a potential approach for all neurological disorders. The article is worth reading for all who suffer from TN & also Occipital Neuralgia of which I have as well. I encourage all of you to talk to everyone you know about these disorders so that anyone they hear of with the symptoms can get these people to a Neurologist sooner than later.

I sometimes get two or three attacks a night. They are severe and I pray to die. Thank you for spreading the word. We need help and a cure or treatment that works.

TN2 diagnosed 5 years ago. I get zaps infrequently but the constant pain is debilitating. Cold weather, too much sun exposure, smiling, laughing, loud noises all affect me. I haven't eaten a salad or meat in 2 years. Too painful to chew anything challenging. Please please study? Find a cure, anything to help.

I suffered this for 5+ years and had a micro vascular decompression in 2002 I have been pain free for 14 years and always lived in fear of it returning I think I am experiencing early symptoms and this should be more researched and made knowledgable to healthcare workers

Just because trigeminal neuralgia is considered a rare, orphan disease, that doesn't make the horrific pain and path of destruction that it delivers any less devastating than other more popularized diseases/conditions. More money needs to be allocated for research to find the cause, a cure and less risky and damaging approaches. It's such a human injustice that this monster of a disorder has existed for centuries yet there's not much progress to show. We need attention and more effective help for what has been named the "suicide disease" for good reason.

I've just been diagnosed with TN by Dr. Mark Linsky at UCI California In late June 2016 after fighting it for 7 years / June 5 2009/ I've lost my entire life because of it, NO meds of ANY kind have ever touched my pain, Thank goodness for Mom's, I would be on the streets if it weren't for her, she has kept me going from Dr. To Dr..and didn't give up on me, because no one in the family believes or sees it, or even researches it. This all started the day I had an upper tooth extraction.....but I'm fighting it... and will win!! We need to help the others and educate people about this! God bless you all!

I'm a survivor of Trigeminal Neuralgia. Would not wish the pain on anyone. Had brain surgery in 2014 and I am pain free. Please find help for those that surgery or medication has not helped
