TN pain is beyond understanding by those who do not suffer. It is debilitating to the point of ending some careers. A cure is needed, the sooner the better.

Morphine Sulfate ER combined with Gabapentin, Tizanidine, Norco, and Cymbalta can help those living with Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia. Opioid medications help those of us that have been cursed with Atypical TN. These medications reduce the intensity of the constant pain experienced from this rare neurological disorder. These medications are being villainized and doctors are no longer prescribing these medications to the people that need these pain reducing medications. I have moved to a new State and thus far two pain management centers have refused to admit me as a patient because the combination of medications I take include opioids. I hope I am able to find a doctor that will continue to work with me and my medication regimen until I am able to find another way of controlling this pain. On the bright side, over the years I have discovered that acupuncture appears to help a little in reducing the intensity of this pain and the frequency of electric shock-like pain experienced. Yoga has also helped me handle to better handle this horrific pain. I have also started seeing a new chiropractor that is treating my TN with special neck adjustments. Sufferers of ATN need doctors to be open minded and become aware of the research that has shown these medications help patients with ATN. Another medication that needs to be explored in helping ATN, TN, and other pain related disorders is cannabis. Our society needs to be open to conducting research on plants such as cannabis that have been shown to contain many medicinal properties including pain reduction. Cannabis needs to be properly classified as a substance that has medical benefits so proper research can be used to determine if chemicals in cannabis can help ATN suffers. The THC produced in this plant has already shown to be able kill certain types of cancer cells without damaging healthy cells. Research needs to be done to explore the use of this plant and other drugs that may be able to help ATN patie

As sufferers, we can assure you that extreme, undue stress is added to an already disabling disease when TN is not on the Health Topics List.
Not only is research for a cure needed, all pysicians (and dentists) need to be educated on how to recognize this pain.
It is a common theme that patients suffer for months or years without a correct diagnosis, often resulting in unnecessary medical or dental work causing more undue stress.
Adding TN to the Health Topic List will not only help to find a cure, it will help in ending the hardship and undue stress added to it's sufferers because of it's invisibility and general naivety of the disease in the medical and dental fields.

I sign this petition for every resherch, grants, funding along with being treated by qualified health care professionals without the intent of being deemed well, or just emotional.
This disease is termed the Suicide Disease. I suffered over over 14+ years now and I specifically asked my husband to shoot me. I didn't have the guts. I believe in hell.
Thousands suffer in silence. I as you will you please be our voice ?
Thank you
