This petition is to get the planning application approved for Trifarm in Boreham As many of you know Trifarm opened a few weeks ago and has been well supported by the local Triathlet community. Such a venue would be an asset to Chelmsford and the surrounding area. Triathlon is a sport on the increase and many people in Essex will be able to make use of the venue. Having seen the work that has been undertaken it appears to have been done with great sensitivity to the surrounding area and will, as it matures, provide a very natural setting. The opening hours as detailed allow for a steady flow of visitors so should not impact greatly on the neighboring areas. Many athletes may arrive on bikes rather than cars. The running track itself blends with the natural surroundings so no impact on the views across the countryside. Any addition cycling traffic must be something the council would want to encourage, particularly in the quieter country lanes. Having the opportunity to offer a healthy recreational area in a time when encouraging exercise is part of government strategy to tackle obesity should by encouraged. After several months of waiting Trifarm have now learned that the planning officer at Chelmsford Council is recommending refusal of their application to keep the portakabins on site which goes to committee on the 25th June at 7pm. His main concerns appear to be parking and local visual impact. Tri Farm only asked to keep the units there through the end of October so they could see if the idea worked (looks like it does!). As such we need to fall back on old fashioned people power and I would ask those of you who can, and especially those of you within the good borough of Chelmsford, to sign this petition.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but the momentum is actually building and it feels like people are finally starting to pay attention to why Trifarm matters. My brain is spinning a bit thinking about the planning meeting and all the moving parts but having this kind of energy behind us makes the whole thing feel way less impossible.

Keep trifarm open! It is so hard to find good open water swimming in this area. Such a shame if they force it to close.

LEAVE IT ALONE. It is a massive asset to the local tri community and brings people into the area. Get a grip council.

Such a lovely spot. The portakabins are barely even visible from the road. Let these people do their jobs!

This place is great for training. Why does the council always want to ruin something good for the community?

Ridiculous. Encouraging fitness but then shutting down the venues where people actually exercise. Logic is missing here.
